Curaçao day 5, these pigs aren't wild!
Day 5, Friday. Another cloudy start to the morning, but still 26 degrees. The sun comes out strong around 10 am and climbs to 28, 29 most days, your are glad of a few clouds later. There is always a breeze here thank fully.
We had coffee with 3 iguanas this morning, they seem to be smiling..but I wouldn't trust them, lol.
It wasn't long before we started hearing people laughing, it was a ripple effect. A pig was coming down the beach, it was funny to watch, not something you see everyday. They have a sign that says Willi and Woody, not sure which one came to see us, but he was big. Your not allowed to feed them, but they try..putting their noses in people's bags. It took a few people by surprise, happily sleeping on a sunbed, next thing a huge pig is rummaging through your bag! We saw a couple of people jump a mile, and everyone around them laughed.

Our beach for today was Playa Mari, it is well known for local wandering wild pigs, I wanted to see. The beach was nice, it cost $3 each to get in, but it was worth it, for the amenities. A great bar and restaurant overlooking the water, washrooms, diving equipment and a small boutique. It was the biggest beach so far, still not miles, here the beaches are in inlets, which is great, the water isn't rough and the rocks on the edges make for great snorkelling.
Willi or Woody!
I wouldn't call them wild pigs, you can scratch their ears, but if you get too close, they will turn and grunt at you..I found that out, lol
Spot the pig!
We stopped on our way back at a local beach, just 5 minutes from our place. There is no fee on most beaches, just the resort type. This beach was good too, small, but still a place to get beer or fries. The large shaded umbrellas were most welcome, we are still reapplying lots of sunscreen.
Our local beach, Daaibooi beach.
We headed back, it's really nice to have a pool, get all the sand off, grab a drink and relax for a couple more hours in the shade, the sun goes down around 7pm.
Rob connected to the wifi, he sighed.. that wasn't good a sign. He said, InselAir has cancelled our flights, no explanation, just both ways are cancelled. He went into action, he makes me stressed when he is stressed. I got him a beer, grabbed my towel and said, let's figure this out by the pool. Our hosts Peter and Annexe are lovely people, we knew they would help us. We found another airline, figured out new return flights to Bonaire and Annexe printed out our tickets. Fingers crossed. It looks like InselAir has closed, can't see a refund from them.
Tonight we had reservations at Karacter, a restaurant by the sea, in an upscale gated community. Take two on our romantic valentines supper. The homes here are beautiful, some interesting modern designs. There is a community infinitely pool, a cafe for coffee and bar for drinks and snacks, a place to book excursions and even a real estate office.
Cheapest we could see was 350,000 euros, looked great. Some were over a million, with sea view, there own pool, 5 bedrooms etc, just gorgeous.
Our view was pretty special, it was nice restaurant, my feet were in the sand. The menu looked good, Rob ordered the 3 course special for 69florins. The waiter bought our drinks, I had a rose bubbly wine. There were 2 pre starters of beef pate, yum. Rob had shrimp, prosciutto and watermelon for a starter and a fish called Mula for his main course, all was great. My Mahi Mahi and red snapper was tasty too. Deserts were great, and coffee rounded off a lovely meal.
