Curaçao day 4, Sun, Sea, Sand.
Day 4, time to work on a tan.
It was a little cloudy this morning, when we sat outside for coffee. Our plan for today was to visit some of the beaches, our host Peter, told us about. I was excited, he said one of the beaches had turtles, they hang out by the local fisherman, waiting for the scraps of fish left over. You can buy fresh fish filleted, right off the boat, can't get any better than out.
We rented two masks and a pair of fins for Rob (from our host) the masks were the full face one. I've been wanting to try them, I'm not great at snorkelling with a mouthpiece..I always end up drinking the the water..yuk.
The turtle beach was only 20 mins away, Rob stopped for home made cinnamon buns along the way! When we arrived we realized we had stopped here briefly before, on our last trip. We remembered the fisherman cutting up the fish, but we had no idea, what we missed in the water. The entrance had a funny tree, all painted brightly..so fun!
It was a small beach, not too crowded, a food truck for water and beer, a washroom and somewhere to rent snorkelling gear. Rob went off to get me a life jacket. I can swim, some, but not enough to be out in the deep water, with waves.
There were so many turtles! Big ones and babies, they swam by you, close enough to touch their shell. It was amazing, they were feeding on a large fish in one place, there must have been 7 or 8 of them, one on top of another, so fun. We swam around for a long time, we saw fish under the pier too. It was a fantastic experience, to be without the crowds of people.
I will post more photos, from our waterproof camera soon.
Watch out for local goats, while driving!

We moved on to our next small bay, this one was was supposed to have good snorkelling and fish. Rob went in, while I relaxed. He took some more photos, a cute black and white fish, blue one, still waiting to see a red one.
Playa Grandi Beach.
Playa Lagun Beach.
We didn't stay long, it was an ok beach, but we knew there were better ones, we headed to Casa Abou next.
Cas Abou Beach.
This was our beach on our last trip here. It is still gorgeous. They have a bar, dive equipment etc, you can rent a sunbed, you can even get a massage or your nails painted. Not a lot of snorkelling, there's not enough rocks.
We had dinner reservations for 6.30pm so we headed back, stopping off at E Lanternu to pay the $20 we owed from supper last night.
Tonight's restaurant was on the beach,
we arrived before sunset, it was pretty.
We weren't expecting a set menu, but I guess it's just for Valentine's Day. It was a four course menu, a little more money than we normally pay. It seemed ok, Rob got a drink, a mojito, he looked good, getting nice and brown.
Our first course was ok. Our second course was fair, one big ravioli, mostly thick pasta, very gooey.
Our third course was the steak, it was getting worse..there was so much fat and gristle, it was hard to find the meat. I was getting fed up, Rob was impressed either, I wanted to get up and walk out. But Finally our waitress came back and we agreed on payment for drinks and some food, I still think it was too much personally, but there wasn't much we could do. To try and save the evening we decided to go back to a restaurant we ate at last trip, it is called Landhus Daniel, and I would highly recommend it. The waitress was fine with us just ordering coffee and dessert. We had a banana chocolate Dutch crepe and a coconut creme caramel, so good. We should of gone here first, oh well we live and learn.
